– Chris Baxter, Managing Director, Patent & Trade Marks Attorney
Growing in spite of increasing competition
The world is getting smaller and there is an increased need for faster response times with greater accuracy in all areas of business. Chris Baxter has embraced these basic truths, driving strong year-on-year growth since founding Baxter IP with his father, IP innovator John Baxter, in 2007.
One of the keys to continuing growth has been the focus on simplifying process and setting the Baxter IP brand apart by being easier to work with. Secondly, Chris has assembled and leads a team of highly qualified specialists – experts across a broad range of technology-related fields. The Baxter IP team is well qualified to address both simple and complex cases across the full range of engineering and applied science disciplines. The team is further enhanced by the background of team members working at IP Australia’s opposition hearings department and as patent examiners.
Chris is recognised as an expert in ICT technology, blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies, internet-of-things, robotics and artificial intelligence. Utilising his strong understanding of all facets of domestic IP law across Australia and New Zealand, Chris applies his in-depth experience to the development of strategies designed to ensure strong IP prosecution outcomes for Baxter IP’s patent and trade mark clients. Increasing the value of years working globally at medical device specialists ResMed, Chris often presents at Associate Firms around the world on comparative national patent law.
Baxter IP’s success is built on a wealth of experience in Australia, helping universities, future-focused Australian manufacturers and R&D centres to capitalise on technological advances using trade mark coverage.
As a Fellow of The Institute of Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia and a member of a number of large International patent and trade mark attorney organisations, Chris’ guest spots on CNBC, Bloomberg and Sky News have drawn interest from a broad client base. Over the years, features across a variety of established print and other electronic media have confirmed Chris as a thought leader in Australian patent law, blockchain technologies and the future of work.
Chris was awarded 1st place in Trade Mark Law while earning a Masters Degree in Industrial Property from the University Of Technology and a Thesis Prize in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Sydney.
Away from his duties at Baxter IP, Chris enjoys rock-climbing and the gym as a means to maintaining good health and vitality. Spending time with his daughter Lily, his family and holidays with friends fill the scarce moments between safeguarding intellectual property and leading an energetic and lively firm through another year of strong growth.
