Fidel Dela Paz - Associate, Australian & New Zealand Patent Attorney

Fidel Dela Paz is a registered patent attorney who has over 13 years experience in IP protection. He specialises in the field of mechanical patents and registered designs in industries such as building, medical, mining and packaging. Prior to joining Baxter IP, Fidel was employed at large patent attorney firms in Sydney and Perth. Fidel has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent and design applications in Australia and overseas, assisting in contentious issues and providing validity and infringement opinions. Fidel is also a registered Australian trade marks attorney and New Zealand patent attorney.

Fidel entered the patent attorney profession in 1998 after finishing his Bachelor of Mechanical (Mechatronic) Engineering degree at the University of Sydney. He also completed a Masters in Legal Studies from the University of Technology, Sydney, for which he was awarded a course prize for the highest mark in Trade Mark Law. He also completed a Diploma in Intellectual Property from the Institute of Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys. He was registered as a Patent Attorney in 2001 via the Professional Standards Board examinations.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. Fidel also speaks Filipino (Tagalog). He heads our firm’s Mechanical Patent Group.
